It’s like she is being isolated not only for atonement of her sins, but for the protection of the rest of the prison since she harbors one of the great lord souls.Įven during the fight her hands are cuffed as she swings her menacing great sword, so it feels as though she could be much stronger if she had no handicaps.Īnd the theory that she is actually the witch of izalith, who tried to recreate the first flame, but failed and is eternally punished for her sins, is so cool and interesting lore wise to me The Lost Sinner herself being the only held prisoner in that giant room got my goosebumps flaring first time I saw that cutscene. Going through the lost Bastille and sinners rise, which really accentuates the whole prison vibe, to end up at a single, giant cell at the bottom of the area really got me nervous going into it. Although the boss area itself was 10/10įirst time I played DS2 that boss fight just stuck with me. I think my main problem with it was the lack of difficulty and that after Fume and Sir Alonne his moveset felt basic and easy to dodge, I appreciate that is entirely subjective though. I think turning the fight against the corrupted knights into its own mini boss would have been preferable and then giving Ivory King a more varied moveset, increased HP and his own second phase (perhaps he uses a different weapon at 50% HP or gains magic attacks) would have made this far more memorable." Personally I think Ivory King could have and should have been significantly better, considering its the final fight in the entire game for most (Unless you go Ng+) and needed to provide a proper send off like Manus, Slave Knight Gael or even Sinh and Fume have in other DLC.
The boss had a couple of interesting kick attacks.either way I killed him first time by rolling forward as he attacked, hitting him and repeat. The 2nd phase was thankfully not a gank, and while it wasnt anywhere near as memorable as Fume or Sir Alonne, it was better than fighting Dragonrider again. I can see what the developers were intending here but this wasn't a fun or interesting first phase (from a gameplay perspective). This sounds epic on paper but in practice all the enemies locked onto me and tried to gank me I rolled away and kited them while my allies hit them in the back, until dead. " The final boss of the DLC, the Ivory King has a unique first phase, you fight several waves of enemy knights with allies. I found Ivory King really underwhelming to be honest, I did a post on the sub summarising my thoughts on this game where I explained my thoughts on this boss so I hope you dont mind if I copy/paste:
